AMDs (Active Mass Damper) are systems that dampen the oscillations of buildings during earthquakes. Our design stems from the desire to simplify the assembly of the parts that make up the casing, making them stackable in a telescopic way. The sheets are curved to make them cylindrical and obtain an optical correction effect similar to the stratagem the Greeks called ‘enthasis’. Then two bends are made to close the box. For the sensors, the design starts from the strong image of Caravaggio's painting ‘The Incredulity of St. Thomas’, so in the sensor, which ‘must’ feel, the cable creeps between the "flesh" of the building as in a sort of wound.
