The Cora chair represents the idea of a multilayered object in which different materials work together, using their qualities and characteristics. Wood is used to make the seat comfortable and strong, plastic for the elasticity of the backrest, stainless steel for the strong legs. The joining system is hidden under the seat and designed to make the chair resistant to any stress. The plastic part wraps around the bottom of the seat with a particular shape that is the result of an intense FEM computer analysis. The final result is a sort of skeleton that is made in injection moulded nylon with a strongly variable thickness. The backrest and the legs are screwed to the CNC milled seat that works as a “motherboard” of the chair.
