Designing an armchair is exercise of finding an original way to suspend a horizontal support cushion (the seat) and a vertical one (the backrest) in space. The Spunta (italian word for checkmark) armchair resolves this perennial theme through two minimal design gestures: extending the cushion that forms the backrest to the floor and suspending the seat and backrest within a cubic tubular frame that forms the armrests. The result evokes a timeless aesthetic of solids meeting within a rational cage.
